Mondelēz Back to School Retail POS design

All Aboard

As former Creative Director for a Retail POS Production Company, I was tasked with designing a look for the back to school retail window. Naush Ibrahim, Structural Design Manager, designed all of the blank displays. I designed the printed surfaces using my own vector art library. The end result is a fun point of sale series that was well-received by both client and consumer.

To this day, this series sets the standard for back to School point of sale displays in Canada.

Did our homework

Knowing the importance of this project I made certain to put extra care and planning into its design. All of the vector elements were precisely measured and aligned with an invisible grid system. Using my own symmetrical method I married photographic elements to bring it all together. On time and properly set up for production.

As usual, this process begins with a sketch or two:

The people behind Mondeléz International have ambitiously set their sites on the Back-to-school snack segment. A challenging shopping window, that requires strategic solutions, good timing and a little “magic“.
So when Mondeléz challenged our team with the task of maximizing their retail footprint, they knew that it would require an unconventional approach. An artistic one in fact that features the product intertwined with back to school imagery.

Unlock Your Creativity

In addition to the POS design and production art, I also came up with an idea to make the point of sale the prize. Encouraging young people to express themselves by designing their own back to school locker, they could win a real one. As far as I knew at the time, no other point of sale production company had ever attempted a promotion like this before.
