The Book of Cagliostro is a fictional ancient spellbook in Marvel Comics and the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Kept in the private collection at Kamar-Taj, it focuses on time and mystical forces, famously playing a central plot role in the 2016 Doctor Strange film when pages are stolen by Kaecilius.
This hinged box was designed to house a very special presentation. One that would eventually open the door to many exciting Marvel projects. It started with a replica design of this movie prop. The details were carefully transferred into a design that it would capture the attention of its intended target as well as Marvel fans. It was designed horizontally so that it would also display well after the meeting.
It was created in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop using references sourced from the movie and the comic books. Structural design was provided by Naush Ibrahim of Structural Divine. It was scrutinized and steered in the right direction by Ryan Jarvis, a comic book collector and self-proclaimed Marvel historian. Once it met his standards it moved through several phases of production. The results speak for themselves.

Casting a spell
We sourced a very specific tone of metallic gold foil and tarnished the texture with several layers of UV coating, spot varnishing and printed details. Using state of the art printing technology and premium materials, this presentation case is more than a container. It’s a display piece. Currently showcased at ECG headquarters in New York.
