To celebrate the arrival of a new state of the art offset plate processor, I was commissioned to illustrate a 2 panel diagram that visually explains how this magnificent machine works.
At 14 feet in length and 4 feet high, these mounted panels sit directly above the equipment. This project required technical study of its operation along with an extensive interview with the machine’s operator.

Overview
The Fujifilm PlateRite 8600N-S is a B1-size thermal Computer-to-Plate (CTP) recorder with a 64-channel light source designed for high-speed, high-quality output in offset printing. Key features include reliable operation, a high-speed rotating drum, and options for automated plate loading and inline punching for superior register accuracy. It can output up to 23 B1-size plates per hour and supports various plate sizes and resolutions, making it a versatile and productive tool for modern printing presses.
